                                  Our Music Director - Nicholas Scott-Burt



Nicholas Scott-Burt enjoys a busy and varied freelance career as a composer, conductor, organist and pianist.  Appointed Music Director of Daventry Choral Society from January 2011, he is also Director of Music at Rugby Parish Church, and the Conductor of the newly-formed University of Northampton Choir.  He also teaches piano (classical and jazz), organ and composition at Uppingham School, and is an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, both on the main and jazz panels.

As a composer he has written over 100 works for a broad variety of media, from “pop songs” to symphonic scores - in recent times having composed a chamber oratorio Good Friday (2006-7), a violin concerto (2008); and in the last year four Magnificats with the children of Rugby Primary Schools as part of the Lady Chapel project at Rugby Parish Church; Steam! for a children’s symphony orchestra at the Uppingham Prep School’s Orchestral Day; and a Missa Canonica for Bilton Grange School (where he was formerly Director of Music from 1987 - 2002).  He also writes much music for violin and piano (latelyTwo Little Cats - Hubert and Gustav Thunderpaws), frequently performing with his wife, the violinist Catherine Scott-Burt.  They live in Rugby with their two sons.
